Meet our rescue animals

Feather-tailed Glider family
Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond, Opal & Ruby
Sapphire is our beautiful feather-tailed glider with a face as sweet as her name. She came to Sunset Creek under unusual and urgent circumstances—rescued from a load of firewood destined for someone’s fireplace. Alongside four tiny glider joeys, two boys and two girls, she arrived safely and is now recovering in peace and comfort at our sanctuary. Sapphire is a quiet, graceful presence, spending her nights climbing, gliding, and foraging as nature intended. With her delicate frame and soft, feather-like tail, she’s a reminder of how precious even the smallest creatures are—and how lucky we are to care for her and her joeys.

Eve
Eve was the very first rescue to arrive at Sunset Creek, and she’s held the title of queen ever since! With a cheeky personality and a big attitude, Eve isn’t afraid to boss the other roos around—especially when it comes to her favourite grazing spots. She loves nothing more than sunny days spent lounging in the paddock, nibbling on fresh grass. But don’t expect her to be friendly when it rains—Eve would much rather stay warm and dry than get her paws muddy! Despite her sass, she holds a special place in our hearts as the roo who started it all.

Rachel
Rachel was the fifth little joey to join the Sunset Creek family, and she quickly became everyone's sweetheart. With the gentlest nature and a love for cuddles, Rachel has a way of melting hearts—especially when she's snuggled up with her bottle or falling asleep with a dummy in her mouth. She’s a social butterfly who adores company and always seems to know when someone needs a roo-hug. While she enjoys stretching her legs for a few zoomies around the yard, she’s just as happy tucked into her cosy pouch, watching the world go by. Rachel is pure comfort wrapped in fur.

David
David was a gentle soul with the softest eyes and the quietest heart. He came to Sunset Creek after surviving the car accident that tragically took his mother, and though his little body carried deep trauma, he found comfort wrapped snug in his pouch. David liked to keep to himself, rarely venturing far—he preferred the safety of his cosy wrap, occasionally peeking out to watch the world go by. He was a high-stress joey who took time to settle, and we gave him all the love and patience he needed. Sadly, despite our best efforts, David’s health slowly declined due to an infection caused by his injuries. In June, he made his peaceful way to little roo heaven. His time with us was short, but the imprint he left on our hearts is forever.

Esther
Esther was the second joey to arrive at Sunset Creek, and from the very beginning, she stood out with her quiet curiosity. In those early days, she cried often for her mum, a sound that tugged at our hearts—but she soon found comfort, safety, and love in her new pouch and family. Esther has grown into an absolute delight—gentle, observant, and always watching with those big, thoughtful eyes. As she gets bigger, she’s loving the chance to stretch out of her pouch and explore, though her favourite thing is still hanging half-in, half-out, taking in the world from the cosiest seat around. She’s a calm and beautiful presence at Sunset Creek.

Sarah Daisy
Sarah Daisy is a beautiful little roo with a big heart and an even bigger love for snuggles. She settled into life at Sunset Creek with ease, quickly bonding with her joey mates and human carers alike. Curious and social, Sarah loves watching the other joeys and has just started showing off her adorable little bounces around the yard. But no matter how much she explores, she never strays far from her favourite humans—especially when it’s bottle time! One of her sweetest habits is nestling her face into her carer’s neck for comfort, soaking up all the love and reassurance she can. With her gentle nature and loving spirit, Sarah Daisy brings a sense of calm and connection to everyone she meets.

Noah
Noah was the first pinky joey to arrive at Sunset Creek—a tiny bundle of hope weighing just 900 grams. He came to us after the heartbreaking loss of his mother in a car accident, arriving cold, frightened, and in shock. Despite his rough start, Noah showed a spark of spirit from the beginning—waving his tiny paws as if to say, “I’m tough!” Though he liked to keep to himself, finding comfort in the warmth and safety of his pouch, he was dearly loved and cared for every step of the way. Sadly, after a few months in care, Noah stopped progressing, and it was discovered he had suffered an unseen head injury in the crash. He passed peacefully and is now resting in little roo heaven. Noah’s time with us was short, but he was deeply cherished and will always be remembered as one of our bravest little fighters.
