Welcome to Sunset Creek Wildlife Sanctuary
At Sunset Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, we are dedicated to protecting and rehabilitating Australia’s incredible native wildlife. Surrounded by the serene beauty of nature, our sanctuary provides a safe haven for countless species, including kangaroos, wallabies, possums, and gliders. Whether it’s through rescue efforts, habitat conservation, or public education, we are committed to preserving Australia’s unique ecosystem for future generations.

Our Mission & Conservation Efforts
Our mission is simple: to rescue, rehabilitate, and release native Australian wildlife while educating the community about conservation. Many of the animals we care for are orphaned or injured due to habitat destruction, vehicle collisions, or environmental changes. With a passionate team and a deep love for nature, we strive to give these animals a second chance at life in the wild.
Wildlife at Sunset Creek
Our sanctuary is home to a diverse range of species, including:
-
Kangaroos & Wallabies – Our primary focus, these iconic Australian marsupials often require extensive care before they can be released.
-
Yellow-Bellied Gliders – A rare and endangered species, these nocturnal marsupials rely on healthy forests to survive.
-
Native Birds – From kookaburras and rosellas to powerful wedge-tailed eagles, our sanctuary is a paradise for birdwatchers.
-
Other Native Species – Possums, echidnas, and reptiles also find refuge within our sanctuary’s protected landscape.
Macropod Nursery Project
One of our key initiatives is the development of a macropod nursery—a specialized care facility for orphaned joeys and injured kangaroos and wallabies. These animals need round-the-clock care, proper nutrition, and a safe environment to grow before they can be released back into the wild. Our goal is to build a secure nursery and a fenced arena where joeys can develop essential survival skills.
How You Can Help
You can make a difference in the lives of these animals! Here’s how:
-
Donate – Every contribution directly funds rescue efforts, medical care, and habitat improvements.
-
Sponsor an Animal – Symbolically adopt a joey or other wildlife and receive updates on their progress.
-
Volunteer – Help with feeding, habitat maintenance, or fundraising events.
-
Corporate & School Partnerships – Businesses and schools can support our mission through sponsorships and fundraising programs.
Glamping for Conservation
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our adult-only glamping experience in June! Nestled in the heart of the sanctuary, this luxurious retreat offers guests a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in nature while supporting our wildlife conservation efforts. With full-sized beds, hot showers, and breathtaking views of the starry night sky, our glamping experience combines comfort with a meaningful purpose—every stay helps fund the care of injured and orphaned animals.
